[concept] This project focused on illustrating and typesetting the partnership between Cassiopea and zooxanthellae, inspired by Survival Stories by Sadokierski & Dovey. My science non-fiction narrative was designed to portray the symbiotic relationship through a visual progression intially inspired by lab notes before shifting into more unfamiliar and 'alien' graphics, reflecting the strangeness and enigmatic nature of the jellyfish itself. I prioritised consistent abstracted illustrations with the goal to take the reader through a seamless visual flow from the beginning of their lifecycle, how they survive together, impacts of climate change to the unkown future, presented in a hand saddle-stitched lab-style notebook for an authentic reading experience.
